Simplex Roster 1-21-25

Be advised in order to streamline and make this net more effective we are going to do things a bit differently next month. My understanding of a simplex net is not only for us to test our equipment but to see how far and where we are reaching while in simplex mode. For us to do that effectively we need data from everyone involved. So while doing roll call on simplex I need each of you to keep track of who you are hearing. You do not need to provide the entire call sign, just the suffix, so for instance if you hear me you will note down 257 (more on this later). IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK, I NEED EVERYONE TO STANDBY UNTIL YOUR NAME IS CALLED, PLEASE NO BREAKS OR COMMENTS, YOU WILL GET A CHANCE AT THE COMPLETION OF ROLL CALL.

I will be net control and we will still all meet on 625, where all stations that would like to participate on the simplex net will first check in on 625, confirm their location, type of radio (base, mobile, handheld) and if applicable your antenna type.  once we go to simplex  I will then call roll call, you will state your name, call sign, tactical number is optional, TWICE, net control will acknowledge and give you a signal report and then pass it to Gene WRNT225 for a RSSI reading (if he is available). If net control does not hear you, they will announce no contact and move on to the next person on the roster.  DO NOT CONTINUE TO TRY TO TRANSMIT, YOU WILL GET ANOTHER CHANCE AFTER ROLL CALL IS CALLED. If an operator hears a station that net control did not hear, DO NOT break, to tell net control, Just note it down with the rest of the units you heard, and make a note that the station is a relay. Once those who checked in, have been called, I will ask if there are any other operators that would like to check in, or no contact operators that would like to retry. once roll call is complete, I will go back thru the roster and call each station again, at that time you will give me a report of all stations you heard stating the suffix's your noted down. Please at this time emphasize any stations you heard that net control did not, and any additional comments you may have. We will then meet back on 625.

The 3/18 Net will be my first. Aside from what's you wrote outlining the format changes, is there anything I should do as prep work? I still feel intimidated by my lack of knowledge. Am I correct to assume that my unit # will be the same as my Monday check-in net unit #? I plan on participating in tonight's check-in.

@wsgg368 Hey Gary,

We meet on 675 now that 625 is down, then we take roll call on 675. After we finish there we will move to 650 Simplex. And yes you unit number will be the same as Monday check in.

Send me an email @ KK7BUA@gmail.com and I'll put you on the roster for simplex.

@wsgg368 gary I am so sorry, I just saw this, I have to admit I forget to check the forum as it is new to me.  Some radio have a talk around button. very easy, push the button and you are on simplex. The best way to learn is to get on the repeater and ask for help, There are many people who can explain how to do it. what type of radio do you have? I will see if I can help you, you can also email me at wrpi257@outlook.com

@info-deck625 radio is Baofeng UV-5G Plus. Thanks, by the way, I can't seem to get to the login from the homepage. the 625 announcement is preventing it on my mobile phone.

@wsgg368 I have now added a close button (X) to the announcement, let me know if that solves the issue. as for how to get to simplex, I do not believe the Baofeng uv-5g plus has a talk around feature, I would recommend you program it in and save it to a memory channel.

@info-deck625 Worked great and thanks. Any progress to report on 625? Why not just make the move to 675 permanent?

@wsgg368 625 has much better coverage, and the word is Paul is going up there on Saturday. Paul is a busy guy so that is subject to change

@info-deck625 From where I am they're both strong. I have yet to get 700 to work. Apparently I'm in a 'dead zone'. No worries, just curious.
