Hi there folks!
My name is Arvi. First off, full transparency, I am a noob. A "boot" as we used to be called in the Corps. I am cutting my teeth in the GMRS world. Started out with wanting to just get some decent enough radios for hunting and now my curiosity is peaked. So, in my pursuit of wanting to add a repeater through which to communicate, I have learned that some repeaters are actually communities of people that connect and socialize. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jay WRKS678 who very kindly informed me that I have configured my radio incorrectly. I would like to connect to the Patriot 600 as I believe the folks there are like minded and I would enjoy the opportunity to introduce myself properly. All that said, attached is a screenshot of how I configured my little handheld but I still don't think it's right. Any assistance would be appreciated. One more note, I can hear folks talking on the repeater but am hesitant to irritate anyone without confirming my configuration first.
HT Type: Baofeng GMRS-9R
Programming Software: Chirp (most recent download)
I can also be reached via my email: asjdezns@gmail.com
Thanks again!
Arvi
I am not familiar with that radio, but it looks right, the only thing I can suggest is try it out. If you do not have it right you won't bother anyone because you won't be on the repeater. Good Luck WRPI257
Does anyone know how to set pl tone on baofeng radio? or if you have used chirp before how do you set it? i can talk on my mobile not on my portables
Doug, I've attached a screen shot for one of my Baofeng UV-5R's using chirp. CHIRP is not difficult to learn. 1st thing to do is connect your radio to your PC using an appropriate USB programming cable. Then download the existing program from the radio. Make any required changes, and then download back into the Radio. If doing manually from the radio keypad, the Radio Users Manual will step you through it. If you are still having issues, just give me a shout at wovert@cox.net and we can hook up for some one on one.

P.S. I will most likely move these post to the Programming Forum section.
Thank you bill. When I get home I’ll program my radio
